PDF to Book Guides

Having made a book using Blurb. With the documentary photography project during my time at university. I haven’t really challenged myself creating my own layouts as blurb in the past had poor limitations. That’s why many designers doesn’t use the application and prefer to go to the local printers. Another reason you have to endure is to read about 5 pages to understand, not to add image or text over the trim lines and etc. For some, others have made this mistake and received their book unsatisfied. Many complaints was shown on their blog.

After my last check up, around 6 months ago. Today Blurb has finally identified the problem and now has all the instructions and templates, downloads for InDesign. Now, designers can create books without worrying about alignment mistakes during the printing process.

(Will review this new feature, as soon as I create a book using this application in the coming month)

Back from London: Undergoing Nine Til Five Project

I am back from spending a week in London taking photographs and experiencing life in London. This was part of my “Nine Til Five” project which, for five days, starting nine til 5’o’clock going through London looking at attractions within the time limit.

In the coming weeks, I will be producing the book. Here is a glimpse of how I’m going to use the images.

Back from London

Due to the credit crunch and depression, more people are unemployed and banks are urging them to spend. What great way to spend your money visiting cities that you haven’t experienced before. One week only, Monday to Friday, from nine til five.

Pelican Book Designs

Over the past couple of months, I’ve recently come across a number of pelican book designs and I’ve never thought, until today these selections are very cool. By looking into it further more, I soon appreciate it’s designs and how it draws people’s attention in forms of illustrative graphics. I believe the influences of these illustrations are swiss.

Passing – Book

I’ve uploaded my previous work, which is called ‘Passing’ It is a documentary photography project working with Robyn Taylor the photographer. Passing consist a collection of images taken from Cardiff and Bristol which covers public places becoming non-places. Even without a presence of people we intend to feel it’s aura, evidently we as people leave marks of our existence.

Run New Projects Using Issuu

Issuu is a digital publishing service for both people and professionals (e.g. publishers). Anyone can freely upload their publications or documents and Issuu will convert them to digital online editions. The Issuu editions can be embedded on websites and blogs as well as most popular social communities, such as Facebook and MySpace. Issuu is also a popular social community where people share and discuss uploaded publications

This is a perfect and sustainable way to produce editorial work to show on screen. But I also like glossy magazines and workshop publications. I feel using Issuu will be for personal uses whilst professional projects will stay true to its current form.
